Carrie Meghie is a seasoned entrepreneur with more than 25 years’ experience crossing multiple industries. Ms. Meghie's newest endeavor capitalizes on her creative & entrepreneurial background, hospitality expertise, brand creation knowledge, and her design experience via her newest company Neon Fringey. Neon Fringey is a creative house exploring the outer boundaries and intersection of design, fashion & travel and includes carefully selected & designed villa properties, vintage finds, and one of a kind, limited edition bags.
Ms. Meghie brings over twenty-five years of business experience including real estate, hotel development, lodging operations and management, website development, ecommerce technology, and marketing. Ms. Meghie has been with Becker Ventures for over twenty-five years and has played an integral role in its real estate and hospitality divisions. She is currently responsible for BV’s real estate and hospitality portfolio.
Ms. Meghie led the repositioning & rebranding of the Carbide & Carbon building located at 230 N Michigan Ave to the St. Jane Chicago, that opened in 2018. The hotel’s name was masterfully selected in honor of prominent Chicagoan and the first American women to win the Nobel Peace Prize Jane Addams and is not only a gathering space for all but plays an active philanthropic role in the community. Meghie was a key member on the Hard Rock Hotel Chicago redevelopment project which opened in 2004 and has held key positions at the hotel including General Manager and Asset Manager.
Under Ms. Meghie’s leadership in 2013, a JV was created between Becker Ventures, Partners Group, and The John Buck Company to develop North Michigan Avenue’s first skyscraper in over five years to be called MILA. Named for its premier location on the corner of Michigan Avenue and Lake Street, the 41-story luxury residential development was completed in spring 2016, bridging Chicago’s legendary Magnificent Mile with Millennium Park.
Ms. Meghie alongside her husband Terry Meghie, created and developed the concept for Mr. Brown's Lounge in 2009 - an authentic Jamaican restaurant and lounge, in Chicago's West Town neighborhood which quickly became know as the spot for the best Jerk in Chicago. After the opening of its second location in the Loop in 2015 and years of perfecting the recipe, they begin offering Mista Brown's Original Jerk Sauce to the public.
In addition, Ms. Meghie and her husband founded the Jackson Chance Foundation in 2013, a non-profit that supports critically ill babies by removing the financial burden of parking fees, giving every family the opportunity to be with their child in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). In 2016 she was honored for her philanthropic work and was named a CNN Hero and chosen as one of Chicago Magazine’s Chicagoan’s of the Year. In 2023, the foundation will provide over 95,000 days of parking to families at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, Northwestern Medicine Prentice Women’s Hospital and Rush Children’s Hospital. The nonprofit has raised over 7.2M to date.
Ms. Meghie is proud to be a member of the SAIC Fashion Council since 2019. She previously has been a board member of the Chicago Cultural Mile (CCM), the Chicago Loop Alliance (CLA) and an SSA commissioner for the West Town Chamber of Commerce (WTTC).
